Urological Surgeon

Dr Chong is a Newcastle based Urological Surgeon with local and international training. He has an interest in endourology including minimally invasive stone disease treatment, lower urinary tract symptoms, and prostate and kidney cancer.

He completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales and advanced urological training also in NSW.  He also completed a Fellowship in Endourology in 2009 in Edinburgh, UK.

Dr Chong is passionate about ensuring patients are well informed about their condition and to provide all their treatment options prior to any surgery.

He is actively involved with teaching junior doctors through the public hospital system.  He is also a lecturer for GP Synergy and the Hunter Post-graduate Medical Institute (HPMI).

Dr Chong participates in the Prostate Clinical Cancer Registry, a population-based clinical registry established to improve the quality of care and outcomes for men living with prostate cancer in NSW.

Dr Chong is actively involved in research being a reviewer for the ANZ Journal of Surgery and has published peer-reviewed articles in BJU International, BMJ Open and Radiation Oncology.  He is currently recruiting for a number of studies through the University of Newcastle and University of NSW for urology oncology patients.

Dr Chong operates privately at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, Lingard Private Hospital and Warners Bay Private Hospital and publicly at the John Hunter Hospital and Belmont Hospital.
